Greentune: Is a licensed ECU upgrade utilising Factory remapping protocols directly from and into your vehicles Engine Control Unit. Tuning is via the OBDII port and does not overwrite nor does it compromise existing Factory Service, Repair or Upgrade protocols. We retain low "in gear" torque limits (especially important with Automatic transmissions); retain maximum RPM and cold running restrictions and vitally - maintain all the absolute limp home protections. This is NOT a Hack tune remap, complies with all factory protocols and is recognised by all VAG Service and repair equipment as being a factory map.
Performance: The 1.8T 5 Valve engine comes in a variety of tunes - from 110Kw to 195Kw in Sedan, hatch and ultimately in the Audi S3. MTM tuned A4's sold and modified by Audi NZ (They tuned engines too - just to get market share or because they just knew you could do thios relatively easily?) generally had a totally remapped "chip" installed and do not as a rule "tune" without replacing the whole ECU. The Base 110Kw motor DNA tuned will produce a respectible 152Kw and 320Nm torque and we can tune both the earlier Non Drive by wire (has an accelerator cable) and latest drive by wire cars. The best way to work out what your DNA Greentune can deliver is simple: Take the FACTORY Kw number - convert that to hp (x 1.32) and that's roughly your NEW Kw figure. With Nm (torque), a 1.8-2.0 litre engine will on average deliver 85 Nm more torque to Stage 1.
Remapping: Is completed by DNA Tuning in the United Kingdom who select each tune tailored from an extensive suite of specific factory maps. Based on Stage 1 level tuning DNA then select the performance file, based upon the fuel quality and specification in order to optomise the engine and drivetrain in your car and all this is compiled from the manufacturers own library.
Economy: Might be a oxymoran when talking about "tuning" - but Greentune not only delivers more power and torque - it provides more flexiblity which transforms into improved economy? Moden engines and the adaptive Tiptronic Automatic transmissions work together selecting the best gear for a given load and with more useful power in hand the extra torque especially has customers readily reporting a more relaxed driving experience, easier (higher) in gear passing (on the open road), and under the same conditions - improved economy simply because more "torques" transforms their vehicle.
Warranty: We provide a full Drivetrain written warranty up top 36 months from the date of first registration or for vehicles older than 3 years and less than 5 years old - a 12 month Warranty. Installation: OBDII port read and write is done in two stages and generally READ on one day and WRITE to the ECU the next. On all older cars we also do a full Bosch or VAG Com diagnostic review of the engine and drivetrain. Your garage would charge you for this - we do this in Auckland for free. ANY significant faults MUST be rectified before a TUNE is installed. We provide a full print out and can fix "issues" if you require (charges apply). For Out of town (Auckland) vehicles the ECU may be removed (we provide technical instructions) and couriered to us - with a VAG COM log report (at your cost). We will then using sophisticated BDM equipment READ and WRITE the files and return the complete "Tuned" ECU by the next working day.
Stage II and More: Remapping to Stage II and beyond requires hardware upgrades and for Stage III internal modifications and bigger turbo's. Injectors, fuel pressure regulators, Front mounted Intercoolers, BIG turbos and Cat delete downpipes - then there are the Big Valve heads and stronger rods. All this and you can get over the 300Kw and 500Nm torque - but not for the faint hearted - Genuine Race spec and not for street applications. POA.
